The 300 year-old apartment is situated in the historic Grachtengordel (canal ring) of Amsterdam. During the Golden Age, the wealthy merchants built their houses in this part of town and the canals allowed them to move their merchandise in and out the city by boat. The canals also protected the city and its inhabitants. You can still feel the presence of the spice traders of the East India Company. A replica of an old trading-ship can be visited at the nearby naval museum. Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Anne Frank all left their mark on this city. From your central location, all museums are within walking distance with easy tram and bus connections. The local shopping is varied, whether the specialist stores of the nearby Nine Streets or the trendy boutiques on the adjacent Haarlemerstraat.
Het 300 jaar oude appartment ligt in de historische ' Grachtengordel' van Amsterdam. In de gouden eeuw bouwden de rijke handelaren hier hun huizen. Via de grachten konden zij hun goederen makkelijk in en uit de stad verschepen. De grachten waren vroeger ook bedoeld als bescherming voor de stad en haar inwoners.
Als u hier rond loopt kunt u nog steeds de aanwezigheid van de VOC voelen. Een replica van een oude VOC-tweemaster ligt in het Scheepvaartmuseum hier vlakbij. Ook Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Anne Frank hebben hun sporen in Amsterdam achter gelaten. Vanuit het appartement zijn hun musea te voet of met het openbaarvervoer goed te bereiken. De winkel-mogelijkheden zijn zeer gevarieerd. De nabij gelegen '9-straatjes' en de 'Haarlemmerstraat' zijn hier een goed voorbeeld van.
